Kobe Bryant Public Memorial Reportedly Set for February 24 at Staples Center
A public memorial honoring late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant will reportedly take place at L.A.'s Staples Center--the team's home court--on February 24. "There were conversations about possibly having the ceremony at the L.A. Coliseum to fit more people, but ultimately the Staples Center made the most sense as it was such a big part of Kobe’s life," a source tells ET. "The date being the 24th was a decision to coincide with his jersey number as well. The day will be a way for L.A. to celebrate a man that meant so much to the city." The outlet also notes that "2" was the jersey number of 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant, who also died in the January 26 helicopter crash that killed the 41-year-old Kobe.
