Beyoncé Surprise-Drops Music Video for "Already" Alongside "Black Is King" Debut

Beyoncé's highly anticipated "visual album," Black Is King, arrived overnight on Disney+, and along with it, a surprise new music video. Vulture reports that the official clip for "Already" dropped a couple hours before Black Is King premiered. The track features Shatta Wale and Major Lazer, while the music video (which is also a scene from the bigger Black Is King project) is "an unapologetic celebration of African culture, from Bey’s wardrobe, to her choreography, to the Afro beats that infuse the song." Black Is King is based on the music of The Lion King: The Gift, the companion album Beyoncé made for Disney’s live-action Lion King remake last year in which Bey voiced the character of Nala. Pitchfork reports that the film features "dance sequences, Lion King samples, and footage of Black families around the world... interspersed with sequences in which Beyoncé traverses a beach, reciting details of a generations-spanning spiritual journey." A press release also claims Black Is King “reimagines the lessons of The Lion King for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns” and is “a celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience.” It was filmed across several locations in New York, Los Angeles, South Africa, West Africa, London, and Belgium.
